On Thursday October 14, OZ Minerals won the ‘Diversity@Work Small to Medium Organisation Award for “Employment and Inclusion of Indigenous Australians”.  OZ Minerals received this award for our pre-employment training program at Prominent Hill.

This is a national award and we were up against a field of strong contenders including organisations such as The Commonwealth Bank and the NSW Police.  Our entry was judged by a panel of 26 human resource and other professionals.

OZ Minerals Head of Human Resources, Samantha Wilkinson accepted the award on behalf of the company at an awards function in Melbourne.

At the ceremony OZ Minerals was recognised for the success of the pre-employment program in enabling indigenous Australians to obtain jobs in the mining industry.

This award is great recognition of all the hard work that goes into the delivery of the program.  It is also recognition for the graduates who dedicate themselves to completing the program to go on to work for OZ Minerals.

OZ Minerals operates the Prominent Hill copper mine in northern South Australia, located approximately 130 Kilometers from Coober Pedy. The mine has a preferential local employment policy and employs approximately 600 people of whom over 80 percent are from South Australia and approximately 14 percent are indigenous.
