OZ Minerals is a proud partner of the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS)

OZ Minerals has been a proud and ‘major’ partner of the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) Central Operations since 2007 when the Prominent Hill copper-gold mine was still in construction.

The RFDS and its talented personnel have provided 24-hour emergency medical services to those who live, work and travel throughout Australia since 1928. Today, operating 63 aircraft at 21 bases across the country, the RFDS provides 24-hour emergency aeromedical and primary health care services to more than 290,000 Australians each year – equivalent to one person every two minutes.

Locally, the RFDS conducts over 200 landings, an average of four times a week, in the remote communities surrounding OZ Minerals’ Prominent Hill mine in remote South Australia.

The RFDS was recently named Australia's most reputable not-for-profit organisation for the third year running by the 2013 AMR Charity Reputation Index.

“OZ Minerals is pleased to support such a vital and valuable service to our community. As a remote site Prominent Hill and our surrounding communities rely on the services provided by the RFDS.” says Terry Burgess OZ Minerals CEO and Managing Director.

"The RFDS is extremely grateful to OZ Minerals for supporting our efforts to provide both emergency and essential primary health care to people working, living and travelling in rural and remote areas of our country," said RFDS Central Operations General Manager, Marketing & PR, Charlie Paterson.

"The RFDS relies on the support of the community, at all levels, to help deliver services and to purchase and medically-equip its replacement aircraft – at a cost of $6 million each.”

"We are proud to carry the OZ Minerals logo on one of our aircraft as it carries our staff and patients to wherever they need to be, no matter what time of day or night."
